If there is one thing that has captured most of my attention throughout my tech journey, it is a personal website. I have come across a lot of amazing personal websites throughout this journey, each one of them is unique in their own way. They feature amazing designs, mind-blowing interactive contents, great blogs, and countless different ideas. Each one of them has inspired me to create a personal website of my own.

The idea is to create a place where I can showcase my works in any shape I want and a place where I can document my journey or anything else I desire.

The Process

There are many ways to create a personal website. I first set my eyes on Minimal Mistakes Jekyll for some reasons I can't quite recall. I think it's mainly due to how easy it is to setup and get started on blogging. But after experimenting with different Jekyll themes, I couldn't really decide on one. The main issue is the apperances of the themes, none of them sparks me (and because of my unfamiliarity with Jekyll, I could not customize the theme). Believe it or not, this part took me two days and I still couldn't decide.

Then, I moved on from Jekyll and started searching for different templates again. When I first saw Tailwind Nextjs Starter Blog, it immediately caught my attention. I like it because it is written in languages that I am familiar with (meaning I could customize as much as I want) and it has MDX and LaTeX\LaTeX support (which provides me more flexibility on documentation).

And that is pretty much what happened! Overall, I like it very much, as you can see I have customized quite some stuff from the original template!

It doesn't really mean anything, YK is just what my high school friends used to call me.

Fun fact: I'm pretty sure that 9 out of 10 people I know would recognize me as Yen Hong, but I've always wanted people to address me as YK, not Yen Hong (for some weird reason). However, starting at some point in university, I became too tired to even try to correct people, so I'm stuck with Yen Hong now. And actually, it's not too bad, lmao.

And yeah, that's all for now! Bye!
